WFI Renews Partnership With Inspire Institute of Sport Until 2029 to Boost Indian Wrestling

New Delhi, July 6: The renewed Contribution Agreement follows a previous collaboration that ended in 2023. IIS, promoted by the JSW Group, will keep working with WFI on national wrestling camps and athlete development programmes, with support in sports science, strength and conditioning, recovery, performance analytics and international-standard training.

Sanjay Kumar Singh, President, Wrestling Federation of India, said: “We are pleased to continue our association with Inspire Institute of Sport and JSW in our collective mission to strengthen Indian wrestling. Their expertise in athlete development and high-performance systems has added significant value to our national programme, and we believe this renewed partnership will further enhance the preparation and performance of our wrestlers across all levels.”

WFI-IIS Partnership details

The agreement also covers high-performance planning, athlete support initiatives and branding opportunities. IIS will continue to provide performance support systems for Indian wrestlers preparing for international competition. The partnership is presented as part of IIS and JSW’s wider effort to strengthen India’s Olympic sporting system and help wrestlers compete on the world stage.

IIS is based in Vijayanagara, Karnataka, and is India’s first privately funded Olympic high-performance training centre. It supports elite athletes across Olympic disciplines through coaching, sports science, performance support and athlete development programmes. WFI is India’s national governing body for wrestling, handling the sport’s promotion, national championships, athlete pathways and international participation.
