Carlos Sainz’s future at Williams has come under renewed speculation after multiple reports claimed the Spaniard is exploring a potential move to Audi for the 2027 Formula 1 season, with frustration growing over the team’s disappointing campaign.

Despite signing with Williams as part of James Vowles’ long-term rebuilding project, Sainz has openly admitted he is concerned by the team’s lack of progress in 2026. Reports also suggest teammate Alexander Albon is becoming increasingly unsettled as Williams struggles near the back of the grid.

According to PlanetF1 and Japanese publication Shiga Sports, Sainz has emerged as a potential target for Audi, having previously rejected the manufacturer’s offer before joining Williams.

PlanetF1 reports that Sainz has asked his management to keep transfer discussions away from him until the summer break, insisting his priority remains helping Williams recover from a difficult start to the season.

“I’ve told my team to leave me a bit on my own until the summer break, just to try and help Williams and improve the situation as much as possible,” Sainz said.

“My order of priorities is to stay and continue in the long term.”

However, he also acknowledged that he will assess his future once the summer break arrives if Williams’ trajectory does not improve.
