FIH Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship: Indian Sub-Junior Men’s and Women’s Teams Remain Unbeaten

New Delhi, July 21: The Indian Sub-Junior Men’s and Women’s Teams continued their Elite Pool campaign at the FIH Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship 2026 with another productive day in Muscat, Oman, on Tuesday. The men’s team defeated Oman and Pakistan, while the women’s team shared the points with China before overcoming Uzbekistan.

In a thrilling encounter, the Indian Sub-Junior Men’s Team secured an impressive 7-4 victory over Pakistan. Karan Gautam (5′, 9′, 19′) led the scoring with a hat-trick, while Rahul Yadav (3′), Prahalad Rajbhar (10′), Captain Ketan Kushwaha (11′) and Romit Pal (11′) also found the back of the net.

Aslam Muhammad Farhan (6′), Adeel (8′) and Usman Muhammad (10′, 16′) scored for Pakistan.

Earlier in the day, the men’s team registered a comprehensive 14-0 victory over hosts Oman. Captain Ketan Kushwaha (6′, 11′, 15′, 20′) starred with four goals, while Ashish Tani Purti (1′, 16′, 19′) scored a hat-trick. Rahul Yadav (2′, 12′) and Shahrukh Ali (3′, 13′) added braces, while Prahalad Rajbhar (9′), Karan Gautam (15′) and Romit Pal (18′) also found the back of the net in a dominant all-round performance.

The Indian Sub-Junior Women’s Team began with a hard-fought 2-2 draw against China in its second Elite Pool fixture. Trailing for most of the contest after Chen Ge (4′) gave China the lead, India mounted a comeback through Nousheen Naz (16′, 17′), who struck twice in quick succession to put her side ahead. However, Jiaxin Guo (19′) scored a late equaliser to ensure both teams shared a point each.

The women’s team rounded off the day with a commanding 16-0 victory over Uzbekistan. Nousheen Naz (6′, 9′, 15′, 16′) starred with four goals, while Sandeepa Kumari (2′, 6′, 20′) and captain Sweety Kujur (10′, 13′, 20′) netted hat-tricks. Diya (3′, 17′) and Pushpa Manjhi (11′, 13′) added braces, while Kiran Ekka (8′) and Nilam Topno (18′) also got on the scoresheet for India.

The tournament is also the Asian qualifier for the inaugural FIH Youth Hockey5s World Cup
