New Delhi, July 22: India has unveiled a formidable squad for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, blending seasoned champions with a new generation of emerging talent as the country looks to continue its strong legacy at the multi-sport event.
Scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 2, the Games will see Olympic and world champions Neeraj Chopra and Mirabai Chanu headline India’s campaign, alongside experienced names such as Lovlina Borgohain and promising debutants including Gurindervir Singh, Sarvesh Kushare, and Gyaneshwari Yadav.

Originally awarded to the Australian state of Victoria, the 2026 Commonwealth Games were relocated after the hosts withdrew, with Glasgow stepping in to stage the event. The upcoming edition will feature a reduced programme of 10 sports, down from the 19 disciplines contested at the Birmingham 2022 Games.
The sports on the roster include Athletics, Swimming, Artistic Gymnastics, Track Cycling, Netball, Weightlifting, Boxing, Judo, Bowls, and 3×3 Basketball.
With India set to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, the Glasgow edition presents an opportunity for the country’s athletes to build momentum ahead of the home Games.

India’s fastest man Gurindervir Singh will be among the biggest attractions after rewriting the national record in the men’s 100m earlier this year. The sprinter clocked 10.09 seconds at the Federation Cup 2026, becoming the first Indian to break the 10.10-second barrier, and will aim to lower his national mark in Glasgow further.
Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra remains India’s leading medal prospect in the men’s javelin throw. The Tokyo 2020 gold medallist will once again carry the nation’s hopes in athletics as he targets another major international title.
In boxing, Lovlina Borgohain will spearhead the women’s campaign in the 75kg category. The Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist and 2023 World Champion has established herself as one of India’s most consistent performers and enters the Games as a strong podium contender.
