Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Achieves Career-Best ICC T20I Ranking After Player of the Series Win

India enjoyed a memorable week in the latest ICC Men’s Rankings, with Shubman Gill reclaiming the No.1 spot in ODI batting while teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi registered one of the biggest jumps in the T20I rankings following a breakout series against Zimbabwe.

The 15-year-old climbed 230 places in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings after starring in India’s 3-0 series sweep in Harare, while Gill returned to the summit of the ODI rankings after New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell slipped from the top.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi jumps 230 places

Fresh off winning his maiden Player of the Series award, Sooryavanshi surged to a career-best 48th in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings.

The teenage opener scored 151 runs at an average of 50.33 against Zimbabwe, continuing his dream start to international cricket.

Although his rating of 536 points still leaves him well behind the world’s leading batters, the 230-place jump marks one of the biggest movements in this week’s rankings.

Ishan Kishan remains world No.1

India continue to dominate the top of the T20I batting rankings, with Ishan Kishan retaining the No.1 position.

Kishan, who scored 81 during the Zimbabwe series, sits on 910 rating points after briefly reaching a career-high 916 earlier in the series.

That peak rating makes him the third-highest rated T20I batter in ICC history, behind only fellow Indian Abhishek Sharma (931) and England’s Dawid Malan (919).

More gains for India’s white-ball stars

India’s impressive performances against Zimbabwe were reflected throughout the rankings.

Tilak Varma climbed two places to sixth among T20I batters, while Shreyas Iyer jumped seven spots to 24th.

Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi also enjoyed a significant rise, climbing 31 places to 41st in the T20I bowling rankings after picking up three wickets during the series.

Shubman Gill back on top in ODIs

India also reclaimed the No.1 spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings.

Gill moved back to the summit after New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell surrendered the top ranking following the Black Caps’ recent ODI series against the West Indies.

Gill had previously occupied the No.1 position before Mitchell overtook him in January, and the Indian captain now returns as the world’s highest-ranked ODI batter.

The latest rankings cap another successful week for India’s white-ball setup, with Gill leading the ODI charts and a new generation, spearheaded by Sooryavanshi, continuing to make rapid strides on the international stage.
