India could enjoy one of its biggest medal days at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Saturday, with 10 boxers competing in gold medal bouts and several athletes in contention across athletics, judo, para athletics, track cycling and bowls.
The spotlight will be on Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain, who headlines an unprecedented Indian boxing contingent in the finals at Glasgow’s SEC Centre. On the track, Gulveer Singh will look to add a second medal to his campaign after claiming silver in the men’s 10,000m.

Ten Indian boxers target historic gold haul
Indian boxing has already secured its best-ever Commonwealth Games campaign, with all 10 semifinalists guaranteeing at least silver medals. Saturday offers an opportunity to turn that success into a record-breaking gold haul.
Lovlina Borgohain (women’s 75kg), Sakshi Chaudhary (51kg), Preeti Pawar (54kg), Jaismine Lamboria (57kg), Priya Ghanghas (60kg), Arundhati Choudhary (70kg), Jadumani Singh Mandengbam (55kg), Sachin Siwach (60kg), Ankush Panghal (80kg) and Narender Berwal (+90kg) will all contest their respective finals.
The medal bouts begin with Preeti Pawar’s 54kg final at 3:30 PM IST and conclude with Narender Berwal’s super heavyweight title clash at 10:30 PM.
Gulveer Singh headlines India’s athletics medal hopes
Athletics presents another busy medal programme for India, with multiple finals scheduled throughout the day.
Gulveer Singh returns for the men’s 5000m final after winning silver in the 10,000m earlier this week and will look to complete his campaign with another podium finish.
India will also chase medals in the men’s triple jump through Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu Thirumaran, who will attempt to replicate the country’s memorable gold-silver finish in Birmingham four years ago.
National record holder Dev Meena and Kuldeep Kumar compete in the men’s pole vault final, while Olympian Priyanka Goswami targets an upgrade on the race walk silver she claimed at Birmingham 2022.
The mixed 4x400m relay team also features among India’s medal prospects late in the evening.
Judokas look to build on historic opening day
India’s judo team enters Saturday with momentum after Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh secured the country’s first-ever Commonwealth Games judo gold medals on Friday.
Unnati Sharma (63kg), Harsh Tokas (81kg), Karanjit Singh Maan (90kg) and Inunganbi Takhellambam (70kg) begin their campaigns, with all four aiming to progress into the evening medal rounds.
## More medal opportunities in para athletics, cycling and bowls
India will also compete for medals in para athletics, where Soman Rana and Shubham Juyal feature in the men’s F57 shot put final, while Ramesh Shanmugam lines up in the men’s T54 1500m final.
In track cycling, the men’s sprint squad of David Beckham Elkatohchoongo, Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam and Rojit Singh Yanglem begins its campaign, with the finals scheduled later in the evening if they advance. Harshveer Singh Sekhon and Dinesh Kumar also compete in the men’s 10km scratch race.
Meanwhile, Navneet Singh and Dinesh Kumar face England in a virtual quarter-final in the men’s pairs bowls competition, with the winners progressing to the semi-finals.
