Arsenal player set to leave Club, Premier League Winner poised to join Everton after Mikel Arteta’s clear Verdict

Arsenal are set to offload a Premier League winner amid their quest to upgrade their squad ahead of the 2026-27 season.

The move frees up space in Mikel Arteta’s squad as the north Londoners accelerate plans for a blockbuster midfield reinforcement of their own. Sources close to the deal insist everything is agreed and the player is fully on board, marking a swift end to a chapter that never quite delivered the minutes many had hoped for.

Christian Norgaard is heading to Everton, as per the latest reports. The 32-year-old Denmark international will become the Toffees’ latest midfield arrival after the clubs struck the agreement, with the Hill Dickinson Stadium medical expected to rubber-stamp the switch early next week.

The Gunners are set to pocket around £7 million for a player who arrived with big expectations just 12 months ago, with medical checks lined up next week and documents already being prepared.

Norgaard joined Arsenal from Brentford in July 2025 for an initial £10 million plus add-ons, signing a two-year deal with an option of a third. In his solitary season at the Emirates, he made 20 appearances without scoring – just seven in the Premier League for a little over 100 minutes and one start – with the bulk of his game time coming in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Champions League.

Before that, the former Brentford captain clocked up 196 appearances for the Bees after arriving from Fiorentina in 2019, helping them establish themselves in the Premier League.

Despite featuring in a title-winning campaign, the experienced international found himself largely on the fringes, restricted to a bit-part role across all competitions. His professionalism never wavered, but limited opportunities left the door open for a fresh start elsewhere in the top flight.

Mikel Arteta’s Verdict on Norgaard

Arsenal have given the green light for Norgaard’s departure. The Danish midfielder was not part of the pre-season opener against Girona on Saturday, further indicating a possible departure being only a matter of time.

Arsenal have already signed Illan Meslier and Christos Tzolis, while Bruno Guimaraes is closing in on a possible move. The Premier League champions are also interested in a move for Real Madrid ace Vinicius Junior, while a potential centre back is also on the cards.
