Social media has been flooded with claims that Chennai Super Kings are exploring a blockbuster trade involving Pandya, with several posts suggesting Shivam Dube and Anshul Kamboj could head to Mumbai in exchange. However, both franchises have dismissed reports that negotiations are underway.

Mumbai Indians shut down Hardik Pandya trade speculation

Amid mounting rumours, Mumbai Indians have insisted no discussions are taking place with Chennai Super Kings or any other franchise.

“Our post-season review is currently underway, and we are looking into all aspects of the team. Contrary to reports, we are not engaged in conversations regarding player trades; any trade would only be possible once the review is complete,” a Mumbai Indians spokesperson told Sportstar.

“A range of options and ideas is being evaluated, which takes time, so no decisions have been made.”

The statement is the clearest indication yet that the franchise has not entered formal negotiations over Pandya’s future, despite widespread speculation online.

Why Hardik’s future has become a talking point

Questions over Pandya’s long-term future at Mumbai Indians gathered pace following a disappointing IPL 2026 campaign.

After being appointed captain ahead of the 2024 season, Pandya has been unable to replicate the success he enjoyed with Gujarat Titans, while Mumbai failed to qualify for the playoffs in 2026. Reports of dressing-room friction and Pandya’s decision to part ways with Mumbai Indians’ talent management arm have only added to the speculation.

Those developments have prompted suggestions that the five-time champions could consider changes ahead of the 2027 season, although no official decision has been announced.

Temple visit fuels fan theories

The latest round of rumours was triggered after images of Pandya visiting the Tirumala temple surfaced online.

Many fans interpreted the visit as a sign that a major career decision could be imminent, while others linked it to ongoing reports of a possible switch to Chennai Super Kings.

There is, however, no evidence connecting the temple visit to any IPL transfer discussions, and neither Pandya nor his representatives have commented on the speculation.

Will Hardik Pandya leave Mumbai Indians?

At this stage, there is no confirmation that Pandya will leave Mumbai Indians.

While reports have linked him with a move to Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians have publicly denied holding trade talks, and CSK have also dismissed suggestions that an agreement is in place.

With the next IPL mega auction not scheduled until after the 2027 season, Mumbai are expected to complete their internal review before making any decisions on the composition of their squad. Until then, Pandya’s future is likely to remain one of the biggest talking points ahead of the next IPL campaign.
