Haiwaan X Review: After creating a buzz with their previous collaboration Bhooth Bangla, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are back with their second collaboration of the year and we can’t keep calm about it. We are talking about Haiwaan which is a crime thriller and has been one of the most awaited releases of the year. After all, the movie features Akshay in a negative role after a long time. This isn’t all. Haiwaan also marks Akshay’s onscreen reunion with Saif Ali Khan after 18 years. They were last seen together in the 2008 release Tashan.
Apart from Akshay and Saif in the lead, Haiwaan also features Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Saiyami Kher in key roles. To note, Haiwaan is the official remake of Mohanlal’s 2016 release Oppam which was also directed by Priyadarshan. Interestingly, the Malayalam superstar will also be seen in a cameo in Haiwaan which has piqued audience’s interest. As Haiwaan, which also marks late actor Asrani’s last appearance on the big screen, is hitting the screens today, here’s what the audience has to say about it.

Taking to the microblogging site Twitter, a user gave 4 star rating to Haiwaan and wrote, “This is an absolute banger BLOCKBUSTER. Priyadarshan delivers once again, Akshay Kumar absolutely nails it, and Saif Ali Khan is brilliant. The first half is packed with entertainment, intensity and solid performances. #Haiwaan”. One of the users gave Haiwaan 4 stars and called it a ‘gripping psychological thriller’. He wrote, “Akshay Kumar is terrific as the psychotic killer, intense, unpredictable and genuinely menacing, especially in the climax. Saif Ali Khan handles the role of a blind man well though the performance doesn’t always carry complete conviction. The pre-interval and post interval portions are super gripping and Akshay-Saif face off in the climax is an absolute treat to watch. Not flawless but when #Haiwaan gets going, it really delivers”.

Meanwhile, talking about reuniting with Akshay after a long time, Saif, in a report published in Bollywood Hungama, stated, “I love Akshay. He’s like an elder brother to me. We have seen each other before. We go all the way back. There’s a special respect for someone who has served as long as he has. We have just gone through so much together. We have always had great chemistry. This film doesn’t rely on that comedic chemistry, which is also good because I think that has had its time. This is a darker, more dramatic equation. It’s not all masti and banter. It’s quite a different space”.
