Super League Kerala to ISL: Arjun Makkoth Mohanan Joins Odisha FC after SLK title win with Kannur

The Super League Kerala pathway has produced another opportunity at the Indian Super League level, with young Kerala midfielder Arjun Makkoth Mohanan completing a move to Odisha FC.

The 22-year-old has signed a long-term contract with the Kalinga Warriors that will keep him at the club until 2029, marking a significant step forward in his young career.

Arjun’s recent rise has been built through the Kerala football system. He initially developed with Muthoot FA, featuring in the Reliance Foundation Development League, where he made 10 appearances and scored twice.

He subsequently joined Kannur Warriors FC in the inaugural season of the Super League Kerala. Arjun played 10 matches during Kannur’s title-winning campaign in 2025, gaining valuable experience in a competitive senior environment.

His performances also brought him into the Kerala setup, with the midfielder earning a place in the state’s squad for the 2025-26 Santosh Trophy. Kerala eventually finished runners-up in the competition.

The move to Odisha FC now represents the next stage of his progression, taking him from Kerala’s emerging football ecosystem to the country’s premier domestic league.

Speaking after completing the transfer, Arjun expressed his excitement at beginning a new chapter.

“I’m very happy to join Odisha FC and grateful for the opportunity to take this next step in my career. I’m looking forward to learning, competing at the highest level and contributing to the team whenever called upon. I’ll give everything I have to this club and its supporters.”

Arjun’s journey also highlights the growing role of the Super League Kerala as a platform for young players from the state to gain senior-level exposure and attract opportunities beyond the competition.

For the Kerala midfielder, the challenge now will be to adapt to the demands of ISL football, compete for opportunities within Odisha’s squad and continue his development at a higher level.
