ISL 2026-27: Sporting Club Delhi Eye Strong Start Against Bengaluru FC in Season Opener

Sporting Club Delhi will begin their Indian Super League 2026-27 campaign against Bengaluru FC at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on October 10, with the Delhi-based club aiming to make a confident start to a season in which it hopes to establish itself more firmly on the Indian football landscape.

The new campaign represents another opportunity for the club to build on the foundations laid last season while strengthening its identity as a club representing the capital.

SC Delhi have added a blend of experienced Indian players, emerging youngsters and international recruits, with Tchórz overseeing an intensive pre-season programme.

However, the opening assignment is a demanding one. Bengaluru FC, playing at home, will provide an immediate test of Sporting Club Delhi’s progress and their ability to compete against one of the league’s established sides.

Tchórz acknowledged the quality of their opponents but insisted his team will not approach the match with an inferiority complex.

“Bengaluru are a well-organised and well-structured club, which makes them a good benchmark for us. It will be a difficult game, but nobody is unbeatable in the MG ISL. We will approach the match with the mentality to compete, attack and fight for the result,” he said.

For midfielder Lalrinliana Hnamte, the team’s ambition goes beyond simply making up the numbers in the league. The youngster believes Sporting Club Delhi have the hunger to challenge for major honours.

“I’m mentally and physically ready for the season. We are a young team, but we are hungry for the trophy, and we believe we can have a great season,” Hnamte added.

The Bengaluru clash will therefore be more than just the opening fixture. It will offer an early indication of how far Sporting Club Delhi have progressed and whether their new-look squad can translate its pre-season work into competitive performances.

With Tchórz demanding a team willing to “compete, attack and fight for the result”, Sporting Club Delhi will hope to leave Bengaluru with a statement of intent.
