India Under-19 squad for Sri Lanka tour: Anvay Dravid selected as wicketkeeper

Anvay Dravid, the younger son of Rahul Dravid, has been named in India’s Under-19 squad for the Sri Lanka tour starting July 4.

The BCCI’s Junior Cricket Committee selected squads for three one-day matches and two multi-day games. Anvay Dravid is listed in the one-day group as a wicketkeeping option.

Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan will captain both the one-day and multi-day sides in Sri Lanka. Lakshya Raichandani will serve as vice-captain in each format. The tour schedule includes limited-overs fixtures and longer matches. Selection covers players for both formats, with some names appearing across the two squads.

In the one-day squad, Anvay Dravid and Rajat Baghel have been chosen as wicketkeepers. For the multi-day matches, the wicketkeeping duties will be covered by Manav Krishna and Aryan Sandesh Sakpal. The squads also include several players across both formats, including Sagar Virk and Kushagra Ojha.

Anvay Dravid is 17 and led Karnataka’s Under-19 team to the quarter-finals of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. Anvay Dravid scored 220 runs in six matches. The best score in that run was an unbeaten 82. The tournament helped Anvay Dravid stay in contention for national junior selection.

Anvay Dravid played for the India Under-19 B side in a triangular series in Bengaluru. That event also had India A and the Afghanistan Under-19 team. Anvay Dravid was later picked for Team C in the Under-19 One-Day Challenger Trophy. The selection followed strong domestic performances.

The Dravid family has already had another recent Under-19 call-up. In 2024, Samit Dravid was selected for India’s Under-19 squad for a home bilateral series against Australia. Samit Dravid did not play because of injury. That absence meant Samit Dravid missed the rubber despite being in the squad.

India U-19 Multi-Day squad: Sagar Virk, Lakshya Raichandani VC, Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan C, Patel Kush, Manal Chauhan, Kushagra Ojha, Manav Krishna WK, Aryan Sandesh Sakpal WK, Hemchudeshan J, BK Kishore, Rohit Anil Yadav, Kavya Paresh Patel, Priyanshu Singh, Pranav Raghvendra, Chigurupati Venkata.

The squads set India’s plans for the Sri Lanka tour beginning July 4. Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan will lead both formats with Lakshya Raichandani as deputy. Anvay Dravid is among the wicketkeepers for the one-day matches. Separate wicketkeepers have been picked for the multi-day fixtures.
