New Delhi, Oct 14: Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu is having a bit of blow hot and cold form since she made her return to the international circuit in January following a long injury layoff due to a foot injury. But her return to the circuit is far from a cheerful affair; instead, it is unfolding in tinges of sombre colours.
The Indian shuttler suffered an opening-round exit at the Denmark Open, losing to Germany’s Yvonne Li in a three-game encounter on Wednesday. It was yet another Round of 32 exit for Sindhu, losing her first game against the German shuttler. The Indian shuttler was leading in the first set 21-13, but subsequently, Li made a stunning comeback in the second and third games: 23-25 & 19-21, leading to Sindhu crashing out of the tournament in the round-of-32 clash.

Even amid a difficult run of results, her season featured a major triumph with a championship victory at the Japan Open Super 750. Her initial breakthrough came at the Malaysia Open, where she fought her way into the final four. After navigating past Sung Shuo-yun and Tomoka Miyazaki in the opening rounds, she secured a semifinal berth when Akane Yamaguchi pulled out of their quarterfinal clash. Her tournament run was subsequently halted in the semifinals by China’s Wang Zhi Yi.
