“It is a matter of pride that Mirabai and Lovlina will be doing the honours at the OVO Hydro. I wish both the girls and the entire contingent good luck,” IOA president PT Usha said. Glasgow 2026 will see all the participating 74 nations and territories receiving their own individually designed batons, reflecting the unique socio-cultural aspects of each nation.

CWG 2026: Mirabai Chanu’s Medal Prospects
Mirabai Chanu comes into Glasgow 2026 as one of the strongest medal hopes for India. The Indian weightlifter carries the experience of a Tokyo 2020 silver medal along with two previous Commonwealth Games gold medals (Gold Coast 2018 & Birmingham 2022). The 31-year-old weightlifter will compete in the 48kg category in Glasgow, aiming to secure her third Commonwealth Games gold medal and further cement her legacy on the international stage.
For boxer Lovlina Borgohain, the 2026 Commonwealth Games present another opportunity to end her medal drought at the event. After getting a direct bye to the semifinals, the Indian boxer has been assured of a medal. However, after missing out on the podium at both Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022, the 28-year-old will now not settle less than a gold medal.
A Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist and a former world and Asian champion, Borgohain will contest the 75kg category as she looks to add another major accolade to her decorated career.
