IPL 2027: Ishan Kishan-Jitesh Sharma Swap Deal Likely On The Cards- REPORT

IPL 2027: Ishan Kishan-Jitesh Sharma Swap Deal Likely On The Cards- REPORT

IPL 2016 winners Sunrisers Hyderabad are reportedly in talks with defending IPL champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for a swap deal ahead of IPL 2027. SRH is reportedly looking to rope in RCB wicketkeeper-cum-finisher Jitesh Sharma and let off their vice-captain Ishan Kishan.

According to reports, negotiations are ongoing, and both franchises are expected to arrive at a decision soon. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are reportedly exploring the possibility of bringing Ishan Kishan into their squad, with recent reports claiming that a potential trade involving Jitesh Sharma is under discussion between RCB and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The decision has been taken with the intention of strengthening the lower middle-order. On the other hand, RCB is trying to find an aggressive left-handed opener.

However, the speculation has been met with strong resistance from SRH supporters, who have dismissed the idea of parting ways with Kishan. Many fans believe the franchise would have little reason to trade one of its best performers for a player who struggled throughout the previous season, with several calling the proposed swap unrealistic.

How Was IPL 2026 For Ishan Kishan & Jitesh Sharma?

Kishan enjoyed an outstanding IPL 2026 campaign, amassing 602 runs in 15 matches at an average of 40.13, establishing himself as one of SRH’s standout batters. In contrast, Jitesh endured a difficult season, managing just 116 runs in 12 innings at an average of 12.89. The stark contrast in their performances has led many supporters to question the logic behind the reported trade discussions.

RCB head into the new season as defending champions after securing back-to-back IPL titles in 2026, defeating Gujarat Titans in the final. SRH, meanwhile, also impressed during the league stage, winning nine of their 14 matches. Despite finishing with the same number of victories as RCB, they missed out on a top-two finish due to an inferior net run rate. Their campaign eventually ended with a defeat to Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator, where youngster Vaibhav Suryavanshi starred to knock them out of the tournament.
