Afghanistan to host India in Delhi for T20I series

Afghanistan will formally host India in a historic three-match T20I series in New Delhi from September 13 to 17. All three games will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, with matches scheduled for September 13, 15 and 17. The Afghanistan Cricket Board has confirmed the dates after reaching an agreement with the BCCI. The series will serve as preparation for the Asian Games later in September. A possible date change to September 14 is being discussed but remains unconfirmed.

Abishek Porel arrested after false promise of Marriage allegations

Bengal cricketer and Delhi Capitals player Abishek Porel was arrested by Hooghly police following a complaint from a medical student, who alleged that he had sexual relations with her on the promise of marriage. The woman claimed they were in a relationship for around three-and-a-half years and had planned to marry. Porel was arrested after a Calcutta High Court order dated July 20. He has denied the allegations. Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the BNS and IT Act.

Ex-Aussie player to captain Portugal in World Cup Qualifiers

Former Australia all-rounder Moises Henriques has been appointed captain of Portugal for their 2028 T20 World Cup qualifying campaign. Born in Madeira, Henriques will lead Portugal in the Europe Sub-Regional Qualifier C in Finland from August 14-20. The 39-year-old played 44 internationals for Australia, including four Tests, 16 ODIs and 24 T20Is. Portugal are in Group B alongside Germany, Israel, Greece and Czech Republic, with the group winner advancing to the final.
