Divyenndu is preparing to bring Munna Bhaiya back, but this time the comeback is designed for theatres. The actor will reprise his breakout Mirzapur character in Mirzapur: The Movie, marking a major big-screen shift for one of Indian streaming’s most discussed crime-drama franchises.
Munna Bhaiya became a defining part of Mirzapur because he was unpredictable, entitled, wounded and dangerous. For Divyenndu, returning to the role is not only about recreating familiar aggression. The challenge is to find the human impulses behind a character audiences already know closely.

He added that his approach is rooted in making characters “more relatable and human” rather than taking the easiest route.
The actor said risk remains central to his work. “I like to take my chances, I like to take risks, and audiences have always rewarded me for that,” he said. Divyenndu added that experimenting with roles helps him feel complete as an actor, especially when he can express himself fearlessly.

Mirzapur grew from a streaming crime saga into a pop-culture property, with its characters often driving as much conversation as the plot. Munna Bhaiya’s return is significant because the character has remained a fan favourite despite his violent and morally grey arc across the series.
Divyenndu described the film as an emotional full-circle moment. “I’m both excited and nervous at the same time,” he said, adding that he is curious about how viewers will respond to Munna’s comeback and whether he has done justice to the role.
For the actor, the big-screen return carries a clear purpose. “Above everything, I think this one is just for the fans,” he said. Mirzapur: The Movie is scheduled to premiere on September 4, bringing the franchise’s world of power, rivalry and revenge to a larger format.
