The controversy widened after Pranit More apologized for not stopping the crowd-work exchange. Maharashtra Cyber has registered an FIR against More, Himanshu Jangra, and MBBS student Sejal Pawar and others. The case concerns alleged obscene and objectionable content linked to the stand-up show.

HIMANSHU JANGRA ISSUES APOLOGY FOR ‘370 BIRYANI’ COMMENT IN NEW VIDEO

Himanshu appeared in a video posted on the social media account of Starvik Design. The Gurgaon-based design and marketing agency had earlier employed him as a web developer. Company founder Vivek Vishwakarma, who had fired him after the row, was also seen speaking to him.

During the conversation, Jangra said the online hate had affected his family life. “Meri condition bahut worse hain. Pichle do hafton se bahut zyada troll ho raha hoon Instagram pe. Ek hafte tak toh ghar pe kisi ko pata nahi tha. Mere hometown mein kisi ko nahi pata tha (It is a very bad situation for me. I am being trolled on Instagram for the last two weeks. For a week, no one at home knew about it; not even people in my hometown knew).”

He said that his uncle first came to know about the episode. Jangra claimed he requested him not to tell others. He believed the matter would fade in a few days. However, neighbours later informed his parents, bringing the controversy into his home.

HIMANSHI JANGRA SAYS THE 730 BIRYANI STORY WAS IMPROVISED

Jangra said he had watched videos of Pranit More’s shows before attending the Gurgaon performance. It was his first comedy show, according to him. He added that other audience members had shared similar stories, which influenced his own comments during the event.

“The story I told there – the girl I was talking about… yes, I did date a girl. But sir, what I said there was not completely true. I improvised that story and told it there.”
Jangra accepted that his wording was wrong and issued an apology. “I admit that I used some inappropriate words. I would like to apologize for that. What I said was only meant to be presented in an entertaining way. I did not have any such intention or mindset.”

He also said he had never named any woman while narrating the story. Jangra claimed he had maintained good relations with women colleagues at work. He added that he would not repeat such conduct and would act with more care.

HIMANSHU JANGRA’S JOB LOSS ADDS TO PRANIT MORE SHOW CONTROVERSY

Jangra said his parents became deeply worried after learning he had lost his job. “My family called me back home and asked me what was going on. I told them that I had made a mistake, and they scolded me and tried to explain things to me.”
He continued, “Even up to that point, things were still manageable. But when they found out that I had been fired from my job, they became very worried. Now, whenever I look at my family, I feel a lot of regret and keep wondering why I ever went on that show.”

Pranit More had also addressed the matter in an Instagram video on June 13. “I think I deserve this hate because when I was doing crowd work with that guy, he said a lot of derogatory things, but everyone was laughing at him, so I got carried away,” More said.

He called the incident a “lapse in judgement” and said he gave the remarks a platform. He apologized to the people hurt by the exchange. However, reactions to Jangra’s new video remained mostly negative, with many questioning the focus of his regret.

The FIR has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000, has also been invoked. The police action covers the alleged publication and spread of objectionable content from the show.
