Abhishek Sharma becomes Fastest Indian to T20I Century, creates New World Record

Abhishek Sharma has scored the fastest T20I century by an Indian with his scintillating knock against Afghanistan on Thursday (September 17) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

The southpaw has started in brilliant fashion and has got to the three-figure mark in just 30 deliveries, thus making him the fastest centurion in T20Is among all Test-playing nations.

He once again underlined his reputation as one of India’s most explosive T20 batters, reaching his century in just 31 balls. At 9 overs, Abhishek was unbeaten on 100 off 30 balls, with nine fours and 10 sixes, striking at a staggering 333.3.

This century is significantly quicker than his previous T20I hundred, a 135 off 54 balls against England in February 2025, when he reached three figures in 37 balls.

The 30-ball hundred also makes this a landmark innings in India’s T20I history, surpassing the speed of his own previous century by seven deliveries. His extraordinary acceleration comes after he smashed an 82 off 32 balls against Afghanistan earlier in the ongoing series.

Abhishek eventually got dismissed after scoring 108 off 34 deliveries, hitting 9 fours and 11 sixes in his fantastic knock.
