Akshaye Khanna has bought a luxury apartment in Mumbai’s Malabar Hill for Rs 33.26 crore, adding his name to the list of film personalities investing in South Mumbai’s premium residential market. As per the registration details, the home has a carpet area of 2,341.39 sq ft, along with 175.45 sq ft of balcony space. The total usable area stands at 2,516.84 sq ft. The deal attracted a stamp duty payment of Rs 1.99 crore, while the registration fee was Rs 30,000. The value of the transaction reflects the high demand for limited luxury inventory in Malabar Hill, where large apartments, sea-facing homes and established residential towers command premium pricing.
Malabar Hill has long been associated with Mumbai’s business families, senior professionals, political figures and high-net-worth buyers. Its location in South Mumbai gives residents access to key commercial hubs such as Nariman Point, Fort, Lower Parel and Colaba. The neighbourhood is also connected through important roads including Nepean Sea Road, Walkeshwar Road and Pedder Road.
The area’s appeal is not limited to real estate value. It is close to landmarks such as Hanging Gardens, Kamala Nehru Park, Banganga Tank and Walkeshwar Temple. Premium schools, hospitals, restaurants and shopping destinations in and around the neighbourhood further add to its residential pull.
Akshaye Khanna, son of veteran actor Vinod Khanna, has built a distinct career in Hindi cinema with films across drama, comedy, thriller and ensemble genres. His notable work includes Dil Chahta Hai, Hulchul, Race, Gandhi, My Father and Drishyam. Known for a relatively private public profile, the actor has often stayed away from constant media visibility while remaining active through selective projects.
The purchase underlines the continued interest of celebrities and wealthy buyers in South Mumbai’s luxury housing market. With limited supply, strong connectivity and a prestigious pin code, Malabar Hill continues to hold its position among Mumbai’s most valuable residential locations.
