Based on Asghar Wajahat’s drama Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai, Batwara 1947 also marks Preity Zinta’s comeback to the Hindi film industry after an eight-year gap. Interestingly, the film is set to clash with Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani starrer Awarapan 2, and it’ll be interesting to see which movie will emerge victorious at the box office

BATWARA 1947 OVERVIEW: PLOT, RELEASE DATE, AND OTHER DETAILS
Set against the backdrop of the Partition of India, Batwara 1947 tells a story shaped by one of the most difficult chapters in the country’s history. The film explores how ordinary lives are affected by fear, violence and separation, while focusing on themes of courage, resilience and hope during a period of immense uncertainty.
Sunny Deol stars as Sikander Mirza, with Preity Zinta playing Hamida Mirza and Shabana Azmi portraying Mai. Karan Deol essays the role of Javed Mirza, while Ali Fazal and Abhimanyu Singh appear as Yaqoob Pehalwan and Mithun Chakraborty also features in the film.
The cast further includes Aamir Khan in a special appearance, along with Mona Singh, Kanikka Kapur and Khushi Hajare in supporting roles. The film is confirmed to hit the theatres on August 14.
