Commonwealth Games 2026 India Schedule Today, July 29: Parul Chaudhary, Murali Sreeshankar and Six Boxers in Action

India’s medal hopes at the 2026 Commonwealth Games will rest heavily on the athletics track and boxing ring on Wednesday, with Parul Chaudhary and Murali Sreeshankar leading the charge while six Indian boxers bid to secure podium finishes in Glasgow.

Sreeshankar competes in the men’s long jump final in search of a second consecutive Commonwealth Games medal, while Parul will target her maiden CWG podium in the women’s 3000m steeplechase final. Elsewhere, six Indian boxers will fight in quarter-finals, with victories guaranteeing at least a bronze medal.

Parul, Sreeshankar target athletics medals

Murali Sreeshankar returns to Commonwealth Games action after winning silver in Birmingham four years ago. He will be joined in the men’s long jump final by Lokesh Sathyanathan.

Parul Chaudhary, meanwhile, will line up in the women’s 3000m steeplechase final, hoping to add a Commonwealth Games medal to her Asian Games and Asian Championships success.

National record holder Tajinderpal Singh Toor also begins his campaign in the men’s shot put qualification alongside Samardeep Singh Gill, while sprinter Animesh Kujur competes in the men’s 200m heats.

Manpreet Kaur will also be in medal contention in the women’s shot put final.

Six Indian boxers one win away from medals

India will have six boxers in quarter-final action, with every winner assured of at least a bronze medal.

Sakshi Chaudhary (women’s 51kg), Arundhati Choudhary (women’s 70kg), Sachin Siwach (men’s 60kg), Ankush (men’s 80kg), Narender Berwal (men’s +90kg) and Jaismine Lamboria (women’s 57kg) will all step into the ring on Wednesday.

India have already guaranteed four boxing medals through Lovlina Borgohain, Preeti Pawar, Priya Ghanghas and Jadumani Singh, who have all progressed to the semi-finals.

Swimming, weightlifting and para events continue

The swimming programme concludes with Srihari Nataraj aiming for the men’s 100m backstroke final, while Sajan Prakash, Aneesh Gowda and Aryan Nehra will also be in action.

Sanjana represents India in the women’s 77kg weightlifting final.

India’s para athletes will compete for medals later in the night, with Devender Kumar and Sagar Thayat featuring in the men’s discus throw F42-44/F61-64 final, while Dilip Mahadu Gavit and Mohammed Basil Morssinganakath contest the men’s 100m T47 final.
