Haiwaan Budget And Box Office Target Exclusive: Haiwaan has finally hit the big screen, bringing Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan together for the first time since Tashan. The Priyadarshan directorial has already become a talking point among Bollywood fans who were waiting to see the two actors share screen space again.
The reunion is not the only reason the film has caught attention. Haiwaan marks another collaboration between Akshay and Priyadarshan, who have previously worked together on films including Bhooth Bangla and Welcome To The Jungle. This time, the actor-director duo has stepped into the crime-thriller space, giving Akshay a different kind of role to explore on the big screen.
Now that Haiwaan is officially playing in cinemas, the focus has shifted to the audience response. The film has arrived with the promise of crime, suspense and drama, and it remains to be seen whether Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Priyadarshan’s latest collaboration manages to connect with moviegoers.
HAIWAAN OVERVIEW: BUDGET, PLOT & WHAT TO EXPECT
Haiwaan follows a blind man who gets caught in a murder case and is forced to uncover the truth while trying to protect a young woman from a dangerous killer. Saif Ali Khan plays Shyam, a blind caretaker whose life takes a shocking turn after retired Judge Pradhan is murdered.
Shyam soon finds himself under suspicion, leaving him with no option but to find the actual culprit and prove his innocence. As the police begin chasing him, the case becomes much bigger than he initially expected.
During his search for answers, Shyam takes on the responsibility of protecting Nandini, who is revealed to be Pradhan’s secret daughter. However, Nandini is also being hunted by powerful people who do not want her secrets to come out. Shyam’s attempt to keep her safe pushes him further into a web of hidden truths, danger, and unexpected twists.
Akshay Kumar steps into a darker role as Parshuram, a ruthless killer who is after Nandini. His character becomes a major threat to Shyam, turning the story into a tense battle as the latter tries to stay one step ahead while also solving the mystery surrounding Pradhan’s death.
The film is reportedly adapted from Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam thriller Oppam. Produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn under KVN Productions and Thespian Films, the film features an ensemble cast including Boman Irani, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Saiyami Kher, Sharib Hashmi, Rajpal Yadav, Rajesh Sharma, Pahal Chaudhary and Manoj Joshi.
Filmibeat recently spoke to trade analyst Rohit Jaiswal to understand the box office prospects of Haiwaan and what kind of performance the film could deliver in theatres. Talking about its budget, the trade analyst said, “The budget of Haiwaan is around Rs 80 crore.”
HAIWAAN BOX OFFICE TARGET UPDATE
Talking about the box-office target for the film, Rohit stated, “Haiwaan needs to collect around Rs 90 crore to get a hit verdict at the box office. If the film manages to touch around Rs 75 crore, it can be termed average. Anything below Rs 60 crore would put it in the flop category, while collections under Rs 40 crore would be a Disaster. So, the film needs to cross the Rs 90 crore mark to be considered a clean Hit.”
