Mumbai Indians are gearing up for major changes following a dismal IPL 2026 season that saw them finish ninth.
With Hardik Pandya‘s future at the franchise under intense scrutiny after a poor campaign, reports suggest the team is actively exploring ways to move on from the all-rounder.

According to Revsportz, Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has emerged as the prime target in a potential trade deal. Jaiswal is viewed as a strong long-term prospect who could eventually fill the shoes of Rohit Sharma. The report further indicates that MI could also look to part ways with Suryakumar Yadav as part of their rebuilding efforts.
MI’s management is set to convene a crucial review meeting next week to evaluate the futures of several senior players and coaching staff. Hardik Pandya’s camp is already said to be in advanced discussions with Rajasthan Royals regarding a possible switch.
On the leadership front, the five-time champions are eyeing a fresh captain with an eye on the future. Tilak Varma stands out as the clear favourite for the role after his recent appointment as India’s T20I vice-captain.
This latest setback for the 32-year-old comes amid efforts to involve him more in ODI cricket ahead of the 2027 World Cup in South Africa. Pandya had missed several IPL games for MI but featured in the team’s final matches. His previous left ankle injury during the 2023 ODI World Cup had significantly impacted India’s balance in that tournament.
