Hero Women’s Indian Open: Chiara Tamburlini Leads as Pranavi Urs Battles Illness to Stay in Contention

Chiara Tamburlini maintained her position at the top of the leaderboard after the second round of the Hero Women’s Indian Open (HWIO) 2026, while India’s Pranavi Urs produced a determined performance despite battling a stomach illness at the DLF Golf and Country Club.

The Swiss golfer carded a one-under-par 71 on Friday, following her opening-round 67, to reach six-under-par overall and establish a two-shot advantage. Tamburlini, the 2024 Ladies European Tour (LET) Order of Merit winner, has found some relief in Gurugram after a challenging transition to the LPGA Tour this season.

Pranavi, meanwhile, remained firmly in contention with consecutive rounds of 70, placing her at four-under-par. Despite struggling with a stomach bug throughout the week, the Indian recovered from an early bogey by maintaining her composure and producing three birdies on the back nine.

“One bad hole doesn’t mean you can’t come back. You have to be patient. That’s what I did and just took it shot by shot,” Pranavi said.

Magdalena Simmermacher of Argentina also finished at four-under-par, sharing second place with Pranavi. India’s Vani Kapoor climbed to seventh at two-under after carding a 69, aided by an eagle on the 14th hole.

Sara Kouskova of the Czech Republic and France’s Camille Chevalier shared fourth place at three-under-par. Tvesa Malik finished level-par in 12th, while Diksha Dagar struggled with rounds of 77 and 80.

A major milestone belonged to 13-year-old Indian amateur Ojaswini Saraswat, who became the youngest Indian to make the cut at the tournament, surpassing Aditi Ashok’s previous record set at 14 in 2012.

The projected cut stood at nine-over-par, with 10 Indians, including two amateurs, expected to feature over the weekend. Round three is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am on Saturday.
