Bangladesh produced a 23-run comeback win over Pakistan in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, after their spinners took control at Hampshire Bowl, Southampton. Nahida Akter led the attack with three for 18, while Sanjida Akter Meghla also took three for 21.

Pakistan had been ahead early in the chase, but Bangladesh stayed in the game after Shorna Akter’s unbeaten 39 and Nigar Sultana’s 36 lifted them from 13 for three to 123 for six. Bangladesh, ranked 10th by the ICC, secured their second win, while eighth-ranked Pakistan remain winless.

Bangladesh recover after early damage

Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat. Dilara Akter struck Sadia Iqbal for four in the first over, but Fatima Sana hit back with a double-wicket maiden. She removed Dilara for five and Sharmin Akter for a duck, then Tasmia Rubab dismissed Juairiya Ferdous for seven.

Sobhana Mostary made 22, while Nigar steadied the innings after Bangladesh slipped to 13 for three. Ritu Moni fell for seven, and Nigar later made 36 before falling in the 18th over. Shorna then added late runs, finishing 39 not out off 22 balls to take Bangladesh to 123 for six.

Spin slows Pakistan after strong start

Pakistan began well in reply. Gull Feroza and Muneeba Ali helped them reach 41 without loss in the powerplay. But Bangladesh then pulled back through Nahida, Sanjida, Rabeya Khan and Ritu Moni, as Pakistan lost wickets at regular intervals and their run rate dropped.

Nahida had Muneeba caught for 25, while Sanjida removed Ayesha Zafar and Aliya Riaz in the 12th over. Rabeya trapped Iram Javed LBW for nine, and Sanjida then had Saira Jabeen caught for a duck. Tuba Hassan made one and Fatima Sana scored 10 before Pakistan closed on 100 for eight.
