The development came after the actor agreed to submit an “unconditional apology” over his alleged involvement in a protest opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The court has scheduled the next hearing on his plea for December 7 and kept the notice on hold until then.
During the hearing, the bench reminded Khan of the restrictions attached to his OCI status, stating, “You are an OCI card holder. You can’t behave like an Indian citizen. You have nothing to say about SIR. You had no right to participate. You have to give a categorical undertaking to the court.”

Actor Imran Khan Apologizes
Actor Imran Khan had earlier approached the court, challenging the FRRO notice that asked him to leave India.
However, on Monday, the actor submitted an apology, according to India Today. In his statement, Khan assured the court, “I shall not participate in any protest in the future, nor shall I directly or indirectly influence or instigate others to participate in any such protest.” He also expressed his “utmost love and respect for this great nation and its Constitution.”
The apology followed a strong reprimand from a High Court bench, which pointed out that Khan is an American citizen and an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholder. The court reminded him that his OCI status did not grant him the right to take part in political demonstrations in the capacity of an Indian citizen.
