IND vs AFG: Mohammad Nabi Joins Elite T20I Club in Delhi

Mohammad Nabi has added another significant milestone to his remarkable T20I career in the ongoing match between India and Afghanistan.

The veteran has become only the fourth men’s cricketer to achieve the double of 2,500-plus runs and 100-plus wickets in the format.

The Afghanistan all-rounder reached the landmark during the ongoing T20I series against India.

Nabi had entered the India series just short of the 2,500-run mark. In the first T20I in Delhi, he played a crucial role in Afghanistan’s recovery after the visitors slipped to 43/5. Nabi scored 33 off 27 balls, sharing an 83-run partnership with Azmatullah Omarzai, who remained unbeaten on 64. Nabi also claimed two wickets as India eventually won by seven wickets.

In the second T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Afghanistan posted 159/8, with Ibrahim Zadran top-scoring with 37, while Rashid Khan and Darwish Rasooli provided useful contributions. Nabi scored 20 runs of 14 deliveries with a couple of boundaries, thus taking his T20I run tally over 2500.

Nabi now joins a select list of players who have combined exceptional batting and bowling numbers in men’s T20Is:
