IND vs ZIM: India Thrash Zimbabwe 3-0 To Go On Top Of ICC T20I Rankings

IND vs ZIM: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi struck his second half-century of the series and missed out on a well-deserved ton as India completed a 3-0 thrashing against Zimbabwe. The win meant that India continued to hold their position at the top of the T20I rankings, having lost the spot during their series loss against England.

Opting to bat first on the same sluggish pitch used for the second T20I, India suffered an early setback with Abhishek Sharma departing cheaply. However, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ishan Kishan steadied the innings with a fluent 75-run partnership for the second wicket off just 50 deliveries. Sooryavanshi continued his rich vein of form with a superb 81, while cameos from captain Shreyas Iyer (27 off 18) and Rinku Singh (25 off 14) lifted India to a competitive 192/5.

Zimbabwe’s chase never gathered momentum as India’s pace attack struck at regular intervals. Mayank Yadav once again dismissed Brian Bennett with the opening delivery of the innings, repeating the feat from earlier in the series. Yash Thakur then dealt another significant blow by claiming two wickets in successive deliveries during the powerplay, leaving the hosts with an uphill task.

Ryan Burl remained unbeaten on 54, while Wessly Madhevere chipped in with 28, but Zimbabwe could only manage 157/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Mayank finished as India’s standout bowler with figures of 3/29, while Thakur supported him well with two wickets.

Despite another comprehensive victory, India’s fielding remained an area of concern. The visitors put down five regulation chances, including three off Thakur’s bowling, continuing a worrying trend that the team management will hope to address before tougher assignments ahead.
