On World Literacy Day, the conversation around education goes beyond classrooms and textbooks. Several leading women have been using their influence, resources and platforms to support children’s education, early development and access to better opportunities. From global star Priyanka Chopra Jonas to philanthropist Shalini Passi, these women are showing how influence can be used to create a lasting impact.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas
Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been associated with UNICEF for years and has consistently used her global platform to advocate for children’s rights and girls’ education. As a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, she has visited programmes supporting children’s education, health, nutrition and protection, including in Uttar Pradesh.
Shalini Passi
Shalini Passi has taken her commitment to children’s development to the ground, particularly through her work with UNICEF in Bihar. As a UNICEF India Children Champion, she has supported efforts around early childhood development and visited Anganwadi centres in Purnea and Araria, engaging with programmes focused on children’s education, health, nutrition and protection.

For educationist Devyani Jaipuria, creating opportunities goes beyond providing aid.
