Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) find themselves in a precarious, high-stakes situation as they prepare to face the Delhi Capitals (DC) in what could potentially be their final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. Amidst the intense pressure of qualification scenarios and outside noise, the KKR camp remains laser-focused on preparation.
Addressing the media on the eve of the clash, KKR’s coaching staff member Abhishek Nayar shed light on the team’s mindset, a massive injury blow, and the sheer grit defining their campaign.

Heading into a do-or-die fixture, the tension is palpable, but the KKR leadership group has prioritized a calm, process-driven approach. “I try to keep things quite simple and focus on controlling the controllables,” Nayar stated.
When asked about the remarkable turnaround in KKR’s season, Nayar highlighted “I would put it down to consistency. I often talk about adversity, and when you are in difficult situations, the one thing a leadership group can do is remain consistent with the players,” he explained. “When everything around you starts to feel like it is crumbling, you have to stay strong and stick to your core values as a team and as individuals.”
The Angkrish Raghuvanshi Injury Blow
In a devastating setback for the franchise, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, KKR’s highest run-scorer this season and a pivotal figure behind the stumps has been officially ruled out of the tournament.
“From the start of the season, setbacks are something we have become used to,” Nayar acknowledged. “He has been such an integral part of the side, not only with the bat but also as a wicketkeeper behind the stumps… You cannot simply replace someone like that.”
However, the KKR management views this adversity as a golden opportunity for the rest of the squad.
“It is an opportunity for one of our young wicketkeepers to come in and do something special. I feel this tournament is all about opportunities,” the KKR head coach concluded.
