India begin a new chapter in T20I cricket when they take on Ireland in the opening match of the two-game series at Stormont Cricket Ground in Belfast on Friday, June 26.
The series marks Shreyas Iyer’s first assignment as India’s full-time T20I captain following the team’s successful title defence at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup earlier this year.
While the leadership transition has generated plenty of interest, much of the spotlight will be on 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has earned his maiden senior India call-up after a remarkable IPL season and a string of record-breaking performances for India A.
Ireland, meanwhile, will also begin a new era under permanent T20I captain Lorcan Tucker as they look to register their first-ever T20I victory over India.
India hold a dominant record in the rivalry, winning all eight previous T20Is between the two sides, including a 2-0 series victory when they last met in 2023.
