Karthi is set to return to the big screen with Sardar 2, which is slated to release on September 10, 2026. Meanwhile, reports suggest that the actor could wrap up work on his tentatively titled Karthi30 before completing his period film Marshal.
Is Karthi set to wrap up Karthi30 before Marshal?
According to a buzz doing the rounds online, Karthi is currently filming for Karthi30, a Tamil-Telugu bilingual directed by Mad fame Kalyan Shankar. The film reportedly has around 20 days of shooting remaining.
After completing Karthi30, the actor is expected to resume work on Marshal, which reportedly has around 50% of its shoot left. However, these details have not been officially confirmed by the makers.
Marshal was officially launched earlier, with Taanakkaran fame director Tamizh at the helm. Set in 1965, the period drama stars Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead and Aadhi Pinishetty is expected to play the antagonist. Meanwhile, Karthi30 was announced with Meenakshi Chaudhary as the co-lead.
Karthi’s work front
Karthi was last seen in Vaa Vaathiyaar, directed by Nalan Kumarasamy. The film follows an officer who, inspired by his grandfather, embraces the qualities of iconic characters portrayed by MG Ramachandran.
As the story progresses, he develops an alter ego that stands against wrongdoing while taking on the persona of an MGR-inspired character. The film also stars Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj, Shilpa Manjunath, and Rajkiran in key roles.
Next, Karthi will appear in the lead role in Sardar 2, a sequel to the 2022 action thriller Sardar. Directed by PS Mithran, the original film followed a former operative who returns after years away to stop a water company from carrying out a dangerous plan. The sequel revisits the high-stakes world introduced in the first film. Karthi reprises his dual roles as the father-son duo, while SJ Suryah appears as the primary antagonist, Black Dagger.
The sequel features Malavika Mohanan, Rajisha Vijayan, and Ashika Ranganath in key roles.
Apart from the Kalyan Shankar project and Marshal, the actor has announced a film with director Mohan Raja.
