Kamilla Cardoso Goes 13-for-13 From The Field To Set WNBA Record For Sky

Kamilla Cardoso delivered a historic shooting display as three WNBA teams secured wins highlighted by standout rookie performances and defensive efforts. Chicago Sky cruised past the expansion Portland Fire, Golden State Valkyries edged Atlanta Dream in a tight finish, and Connecticut Sun controlled the Washington Mystics behind balanced scoring and strong rebounding.

Across the league, rookies and established names shaped the results. Cardoso dominated inside for Chicago, Gabby Williams carried Golden State late, and Leila Lacan and Olivia Nelson-Ododa steadied Connecticut. Each contest featured key statistical milestones, including a WNBA record from Cardoso and a career list move for Atlanta’s Rhyne Howard.

Cardoso became the first player in WNBA history to hit 13 field goals without a miss, finishing 13-for-13 and posting a career-best 30 points in Chicago Sky’s 124-94 win over the Portland Fire. Cardoso also pulled down eight rebounds as Chicago, now 5-12, earned consecutive victories for the first time since 9-13 May.

The Sky also set a new franchise scoring record, passing their previous high of 114 points. Jacy Sheldon’s layup in the fourth quarter pushed them beyond that mark. Sydney Taylor added 29 points and has reached at least 20 points in four games this season, trailing only Olivia Miles, who has seven such outings.

Azura Stevens contributed 12 points for Chicago, while Skylar Diggins and Courtney Vandersloot scored 10 each. Vandersloot’s 10 points came in a season debut after returning from injury, giving Chicago added stability in the backcourt. Portland, in its first season, struggled to slow Chicago’s offence throughout the night.

Golden State Valkyries overturned Atlanta Dream behind a decisive burst from Gabby Williams, who scored 13 straight Valkyries points in the fourth quarter. Williams ended with 16 points in a 78-75 victory, lifting Golden State to a second win over Atlanta in three days, again in a narrow contest.

Williams made all four field-goal attempts in the final period and went 5-for-8 from the free-throw line. Kiah Stokes and Kaitlyn Chen each added 13 points for Golden State. Stokes also finished with seven blocks, giving Stokes a seventh game this season with at least three blocks before fouling out late.

Chen shot 5-for-9 from the field coming off the bench, adding depth scoring, while Tiffany Hayes and Veronica Burton chipped in 12 and 10 points respectively. Atlanta’s Jordin Canada produced a season-high 23 points, and Angel Reese collected a 12th double-double of the season with 15 points, 12 rebounds and five steals.

Rhyne Howard scored nine points for the Dream but still reached a personal milestone. Howard moved up to third on Atlanta’s career scoring list, now sitting at 2,631 points. Despite Canada’s surge and Reese’s activity on both ends, Atlanta could not answer Williams’ late scoring run.

WNBA: Connecticut Sun balanced attack sinks Mystics

Connecticut Sun continued a positive stretch by beating the Washington Mystics 68-57, registering back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Connecticut moved to 4-15 as Leila Lacan and Olivia Nelson-Ododa each scored 12 points, while Kennedy Burke added 11 points off the bench in a controlled team display.

Nelson-Ododa nearly completed a double-double, pulling down nine rebounds to go with the 12 points. Lacan added four steals, helping disrupt Washington’s offence. Brittney Griner and Charlisse Leger-Walker each contributed 10 points, giving Connecticut four players in double figures and enough balance to manage scoring lulls.

Washington still had the game’s top scorer, with Georgia Amoore posting 14 points. Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen both finished on 11 points as the Mystics fell to 8-9. Despite three players in double digits, Washington could not overcome Connecticut’s defence and edge on the boards across four quarters.

The three WNBA games showcased efficient scoring, defensive presence and emerging talent. Cardoso’s perfect shooting set a league record and powered Chicago’s highest-ever total. Williams’ decisive surge sealed Golden State’s comeback, while Connecticut’s collective effort steadied a challenging season and kept Washington below 60 points.
