Kerala Beat Mumbai by One Wicket, chase down 355 in Thrilling Oman Invitation Tournament Clash

Kerala pulled off a stunning victory over Mumbai in a thrilling encounter at the Oman Invitation Tournament. Chasing a massive target of 355, Kerala secured an unbelievable one-wicket win off the final ball.

A brilliant century from Govind Dev Pai, followed by a sensational lower-order fightback from Nikhil Muraleedharan and Karthik B. Nair, helped Kerala script an unforgettable victory.

Mumbai, after winning the toss and opting to bat, posted a huge total, powered by a magnificent century from opener Ishan Mulchandani. Mumbai lost Abhigyan Kundu for 15 early on, but Ishan built crucial partnerships with Nuthan Goyal and Ayush Varthak. Goyal scored 36, while Varthak made 73. Ishan smashed 152 off 124 balls, including 12 fours and six sixes. Captain Sai Raj Patil also contributed 39. Akhil Scaria was Kerala’s most successful bowler with two wickets.

In reply, Kerala got off to a solid start through Govind Dev Pai and captain Krishnaprasad, who added 64 runs for the opening wicket. Krishnaprasad scored 26 before Rohan Nair departed for 12. Akhil Scaria then joined Govind and the pair added 104 runs for the third wicket. Scaria made 47, while Govind scored a superb 115 off 106 balls, including 11 fours and four sixes.

However, Kerala suffered a dramatic collapse after the departure of the pair. They lost five wickets for just 36 runs and were reduced to 239/7.

The lower order then produced a remarkable fightback. M. Nikhil scored 54 off 41 balls, Krishnadev contributed 24 off 16, while Karthik B. Nair smashed 31 off 21 balls.

With Kerala needing a boundary from the final delivery, Karthik struck the winning four to complete a memorable one-wicket victory.
