Manav Suthar has picked up a five-wicket haul in his debut Test against Afghanistan, thus joining an elite list.
The left-arm spinner has made his international debut in the one-off Test against the Afghans, and has showcased his skill already.

Manav Suthar ends with 2nd Best Figure for India in Debut Test
Manav Suthar ended up with the figure of 6/33 in the match, and now holds the 2nd best bowling figure in the debut Test by an Indian. The 23-year-old spinner is expected to play a key role in the second innings as well.
In the demanding arena of Test cricket, making a memorable debut is every young player’s dream. Few achievements capture instant stardom quite like taking a five-wicket haul (five or more wickets in a single innings) on one’s very first Test match. And Suthar has become only the 10th Indian to achieve the feat.
A five-wicket haul on debut is rare globally—only around 174 players have managed it across all nations. For India, it highlights the depth of talent in both spin and pace departments. Seven of these ten spinners, reflecting India’s traditional strength on turning tracks.
