Left-arm spinner Manav Suthar, fresh from a standout Test debut for India against Afghanistan, is set to join Warwickshire for two matches in the County Championship. The 23-year-old signs a short-term deal as the club continues its challenge for the season’s red-ball title.
Suthar, a left-arm finger spinning all-rounder, entered international cricket in the one-off Test against Afghanistan in New Delhi, which finished on Monday. Suthar claimed six for 33 in the first innings and 1-29 in the second, adding to 129 wickets from 29 first-class games.

Manav Suthar Warwickshire County Championship ambitions and team outlook
Warwickshire Performance Director James Thomas described the signing as a timely boost for a side that has started strongly in red-ball cricket. “We’re delighted to welcome Manav to the Bears, at a really exciting time for the team. We’ve played some good red-ball cricket already this season, and Manav will bring a new aspect to our bowling attack,” Thomas said.
Thomas added that Suthar’s swift Test call-up underlined how selectors in India view the spinner. “It shows how highly he’s rated in India after his selection to their Test team last week, so it’s going to be great to have him around the group.” Warwickshire hope this extra option strengthens their title bid over the next two rounds.
Suthar said the move comes at an ideal moment after the confidence gained from the Afghanistan Test. “I’m incredibly excited to be joining Warwickshire for the next two County Championship games. The team have started the season very well, so I’m hoping that I can play a part in helping them in their push for the title,” Suthar said, as the club finalised plans for the Scarborough and Taunton fixtures.
