Mumbai Indians Women Retention List: Full Retained, Released Players of MI-W ahead of WPL 2027

Mumbai Indians have opted for continuity as they finalised their squad ahead of the fifth season of the Women’s Premier League, retaining 11 players for WPL 2027. The franchise has kept a strong mix of established international stars and promising Indian players, with Harmanpreet Kaur set to continue as captain.

The retained group features Harmanpreet, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Hayley Matthews, Amelia Kerr, Amanjot Kaur, Nicola Carey, Rahila Firdous, Sajana Sajeevan, Sanskriti Gupta, Shabnim Ismail and Vaishnavi Sharma.

The decision means MI have preserved the core of a side that boasts considerable experience across batting, bowling and all-round options. Sciver-Brunt, Matthews, Kerr and Carey provide the overseas experience, while Harmanpreet remains the central figure in the Indian contingent.

MI’s retention strategy also includes several younger Indian players. Sajana, Sanskriti, Rahila and Vaishnavi have been retained as the franchise looks to maintain a blend of experience and emerging talent.

Six players have been released ahead of the auction. The list includes G Kamalini, Milly Illingworth, Nalla Reddy, Poonam Khemnar, Saika Ishaque and Triveni Vasistha. These players could still return to the franchise if MI decide to bid for them during the auction.

Harmanpreet had a productive 2026 campaign, scoring 342 runs in eight matches, while Sciver-Brunt contributed 321 runs and also claimed eight wickets. Amelia Kerr was particularly effective with the ball, finishing with 14 wickets.

The WPL 2027 auction will be held in Kochi on October 28. The tournament itself is scheduled to run from January 14 to February 7, 2027.
