Pakistan Boxer Qudratullah Reportedly Goes Missing After Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow

Pakistan boxer Qudratullah has reportedly gone missing after the conclusion of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, according to India Today.

The report states that the boxer disappeared from the Pakistan team’s hotel after completing his campaign, prompting fresh scrutiny of the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) and its handling of athletes during overseas tournaments.

According to a source close to the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), officials were left puzzled by the incident as Qudratullah’s passport was reportedly in the possession of the team manager.

“The interesting thing is Qudratullah disappeared despite his passport being with the team manager,” the source was quoted as saying.

Not the first such incident

The latest case is reportedly not an isolated one.

India Today noted that during the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Pakistani boxers Suleman Baloch and Nazeerullah Khan also went missing despite reports that their passports were being held by team officials.

A similar controversy emerged during the 2024 World Olympic Boxing Qualifiers in Italy, where Asian Games gold medallist Zohaib Rasheed allegedly disappeared after being accused of stealing foreign currency and valuables from his roommate.

The repeated incidents have raised questions over athlete supervision and travel protocols within Pakistan’s boxing setup.

Historic medal overshadowed

The controversy has overshadowed what was otherwise a landmark moment for Pakistan boxing.

Fatima Zahra won Pakistan’s only medal at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games after claiming bronze in the women’s 60kg event, becoming the first Pakistani woman to win a boxing medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Her campaign ended in the semi-finals against Canada’s Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh, with both losing semi-finalists receiving bronze medals under tournament rules.

In recognition of her achievement, Zahra was also selected as Pakistan’s flag bearer during the closing ceremony.

Difficult Games for Pakistan

Pakistan finished the 2026 Commonwealth Games with just one medal, one of the country’s lowest returns in recent editions of the event.

According to the India Today report, Qudratullah’s disappearance has now shifted attention away from Pakistan’s on-field performances and placed renewed pressure on both the Pakistan Olympic Association and the Pakistan Boxing Federation to explain how another athlete was able to leave the team’s supervision despite established travel protocols.

The circumstances surrounding Qudratullah’s disappearance remain unclear, and no official statement has yet been issued detailing his whereabouts or whether he has since been located.
