PWL Wrestlers To Represent India At U-17 & U-23 Asian Wrestling Championships In Da Nang

Several Pro Wrestling League athletes were set to feature for India at the U-17 and U-23 Asian Wrestling Championships. The event was scheduled in Da Nang, Vietnam, from May 23-31. The selected wrestlers included key names from PWL 2026. Their inclusion linked the franchise league with India’s age-group international plans.

Four PWL 2026 competitors were listed across U-23 men’s freestyle and U-23 women’s categories. Chandermohan of Punjab Royals was named for the 79kg division. Sachin Mor of Haryana Thunders was picked for 86kg. Neha and Kajal, both from Haryana Thunders, were selected in 59kg and 76kg.

Chandermohan entered the U-23 men’s freestyle field as the reigning U-23 Asian champion. Sachin Mor also arrived after featuring in Haryana Thunders’ title-winning PWL 2026 campaign. In the women’s squad, Neha and Kajal were described as core parts of the same successful season. The four selections strengthened PWL links to India’s team plans.

Neha carried past results from major age-group events into the championships. Neha previously won bronze at the U20 World Championships. Neha also claimed gold at the U17 Asian Championships. Kajal came with multiple titles as the reigning U20 World Champion. Kajal was also the U17 World Champion and the U20 Asian Champion.

Organisers pointed to PWL’s role in widening access for young Indian wrestlers. The league placed emerging athletes alongside established international names in training and competition. That setting included shared dressing rooms and match preparation routines. Such exposure was presented as a way to learn elite standards. It also helped wrestlers handle pressure and improve tactical choices.

PWL was described as an athlete-first structure since its return. The league aimed to connect grassroots wrestling with higher international levels. Regular competition and contact with world-class opponents were highlighted as key benefits. The stated goal was better readiness for Asian events. It also targeted progress towards World and Olympic competitions over time.

PWL CEO and Promoter Akhil Gupta had earlier spoken about a long-term plan for Indian wrestling. The approach focused on building a sustainable professional ecosystem. It was intended to support and lift emerging talent. The U-17 and U-23 selections were presented as evidence of that wider contribution. The league’s impact was linked to scouting and development.

Competition in Da Nang was expected to include many of Asia’s leading young wrestlers. India aimed for solid results across several weight categories during May 23-31. The presence of multiple PWL 2026 athletes added another talking point around team selection. Their performances were set to reflect both individual form and recent domestic competitive exposure.
