While Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi have faced criticism for their appearances, Lara Dutta has also found herself at the receiving end of online backlash. The actress essays the role of Kaikeyi in the mythological epic, which portrays RK as Lord Ram.
As soon as the trailer dropped, fans expressed their disappointment and took issue with Lara Dutta’s look, calling it too modern for a film set in the Treta Yuga.
Fans couldn’t help but notice Lara’s modern saree avatar with perfect, well-combed hair as Kaikeyi in the Ramayana movie trailer. “Modern saree, salon styled side-combed hair… is this Treta Yuga or 2026? 🤔,” one of the users wrote on Twitter (X).
