Rohit Sharma has left fans doing a double take after appearing with a clean-shaven look in a photo shared by former India head coach Ravi Shastri from London.

The image, posted by Shastri on Thursday, showed the former India captain smiling alongside Rohit outside a brightly lit storefront during what appeared to be a casual stroll in the English capital. While the reunion between the Mumbai natives caught attention, it was Rohit’s dramatically different appearance that quickly became the talking point on social media.

Usually sporting a full beard, Rohit opted for a clean-shaven look, prompting fans to say he looked years younger.

Many initially mistook the picture for an old photograph, while others joked that the India opener looked like a teenager.

The picture comes as Rohit continues to enjoy his break from cricket following India’s ODI series in England.

The veteran batter has been spending time in London with wife Ritika Sajdeh and their children, Samaira and Ahaan, regularly sharing glimpses of their family vacation.

Earlier this week, Rohit posted a heartwarming video of himself playing football with his children in a London park. One particularly popular moment showed him lifting young Ahaan into his arms to help him win the ball from Samaira during a playful kickabout.

The former India captain has also been spotted travelling around the city with his family, with videos from London’s metro and other outings circulating widely on social media.

Reunion with former coach

Rohit and Shastri share a long association from their time with the Indian team.

Shastri served as India’s head coach between 2017 and 2021, overseeing some of Rohit’s finest years in international cricket, including India’s historic Test series victories in Australia and several ICC tournament campaigns.

Their latest meeting may have been away from the cricket field, but Rohit’s fresh look ensured the reunion generated plenty of conversation among fans online.
