Serena Williams set to return at Wimbledon 2026 as Wild Card

Wimbledon organizers have announced that Serena Williams will compete in the 2026 ladies’ singles tournament as a wild card entrant. The 44-year-old American, a seven-time Wimbledon champion, will make her return to singles competition at the All England Club for the first time since 2022.

Williams has also been awarded a doubles wild card alongside her sister Venus. The pair, who have secured six Wimbledon doubles titles together, will compete in both events at the grass-court Grand Slam, which begins on June 29.

The decision follows Williams’ recent return to competitive tennis at the HSBC Championships at Queen’s Club earlier this month, where she participated in doubles. As one of the most decorated players in tennis history with 23 Grand Slam singles titles, her grass-court record and powerful serving style remain notable, though she faces a significant challenge against the current top players after an extended absence focused on family and business interests.

Wimbledon’s wild card selections often recognize past achievements and contributions to the sport while generating interest in the tournament. Williams’ participation is expected to draw substantial attention from fans and media.
