Team India Physio Kamlesh Jain submits Resignation to BCCI, Reason Revealed

Team India’s long-serving physiotherapist Kamlesh Jain has submitted his resignation to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), bringing his four-year association with the national men’s team closer to an end.

As per a report from Cricbuzz, Jain, who joined the Indian setup in June 2022, is currently serving a three-month notice period, with the board yet to formally accept his resignation.

Jain is presently in New Delhi with the Indian team ahead of the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, which begins on September 13. If his notice period runs its full course, India’s upcoming tour of New Zealand, scheduled to conclude in early December, could be his final assignment with the national team. However, the BCCI could release him earlier.

Why has Team India Physio Stepped Down?

The report says Jain’s decision to step away is understood to be primarily linked to the extensive travel involved with the Indian team. Having been associated with the side for around four-and-a-half years, the Chennai-based physiotherapist is believed to want a role that involves less travelling, particularly with a young family.

Jain took over as India’s physiotherapist after replacing Nitin Patel, who had moved to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Before joining the national team, Jain spent nearly a decade with Kolkata Knight Riders and was promoted to their head physiotherapist in 2020. He was subsequently recruited by the BCCI during Rahul Dravid’s tenure as India’s head coach.

His impending departure comes at a time when India’s medical and support staff have faced increased scrutiny because of recurring injury concerns. Several players have dealt with fitness issues during 2026, while the national selectors and coaching staff have reportedly been concerned about the frequency of injuries affecting team planning.

Jain’s exit would also represent another change to India’s support staff in recent months. Fielding coach T Dilip and assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate have also recently moved on from their respective roles.
