Tiger Shroff Set for Professional Football debut in Durand Cup with Mumbay FC

Bollywood action star Tiger Shroff is poised to make his Durand Cup debut for Mumbay FC in the ongoing 135th edition of Asia’s oldest football tournament.

The 36-year-old actor, known for his fitness and martial arts prowess, has been registered in the squad and is expected to feature in the club’s final Group E match against Nongkseh Sports & Cultural Club on August 11 in Shillong, as per a report from Revsportz.

Shroff, who inaugurated Mumbay FC in 2024 and serves as its brand ambassador and marquee player, previously made his professional football debut for the side in the Mumbai Premier League that year. He has been training regularly with the team under coach Zoheb Khan.

Mumbay FC, formed less than two years ago and owned by entrepreneur Ali Ahmed, has risen rapidly. After winning the Maharashtra State League title and finishing third in I-League 3, the club secured its maiden Durand Cup appearance. Drawn in Group E, the side faces Shillong Lajong FC, Nongkseh SS & CC, and Langsning FC, with all fixtures in Shillong.

Shroff has expressed excitement about the platform for Mumbai’s young talent. “The city has a lot of talent… they deserve a platform like this to shine,” he said.

Coach Khan has praised the actor’s ability, noting he stands out even among professional players.The Durand Cup, which began on July 25 and runs until August 23, features 24 teams. If Shroff takes the field, it will mark a unique crossover of Bollywood stardom and competitive Indian football, further boosting the profile of the young Mumbai club.
