Who is Manpreet Kaur? Patiala-born India star secures Asian Games Bronze in Shot Put

India’s Manpreet Kaur added another medal to the country’s athletics tally at the Asian Games 2026, winning bronze in the women’s shot put. The achievement marks another significant moment in the career of one of India’s experienced field athletes.

The Indian athlete showcased a strong performance in the Shot Put final, and her podium finish was secured with a 17.17m throw. Despite an invalid attempt in the final round, Manpreet clinched the bronze.

Who is Manpreet Kaur?

Manpreet Kaur is an Indian shot put specialist who has represented the country at major international competitions. Born in Punjab’s Patiala, she emerged through the Indian athletics system and established herself as one of the country’s leading competitors in the throwing events.

Manpreet has been a prominent figure in Indian shot put for several years. She has competed at events including the Asian Championships, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games, building experience against some of the best throwers on the continent.

A 2016 South Asian Games gold medallist, Manpreet has also competed at the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. She won bronze at the 2023 Asian Athletics Championships, adding an important continental medal to her résumé.

One of the biggest milestones of her career came in 2022, when she produced a personal best of 18.06m in Chennai, becoming the first Indian woman to cross the 18-metre mark in shot put at the time.
