WPL 2027 Auction: Full List of Released, Retained Players, Team Purses ahead of Auction – All You Need To Know

The WPL 2027 retention window has set the stage for the next chapter of the tournament, with all five franchises largely choosing to preserve their existing cores rather than undertake major overhauls.

A total of 63 players, including 23 overseas players, have been retained, while 27 slots remain to be filled at the auction.

The defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru have kept much of their title-winning group together, while Delhi Capitals have also retained a strong core after finishing runners-up last season.

Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz have similarly balanced continuity with the need to address specific squad gaps ahead of the auction.

RCB Women have released Grace Harris but has kept the core of their squad. Delhi Capitals, the serial finalists, have let go of Sneh Rana in the auction among the big names, while Alana King has been released as well. Mumbai Indians let go of G Kamalini as the Indian youngster will be in action for the India U19s, as the India U19 matches collide with the WPL this season. Veteran India spinner Asha Shobana has been discarded by UP Warriorz ahead of the auction.

The 2026 season produced a thrilling final, with RCB chasing down 204 against Delhi Capitals by six wickets to claim their second WPL title. Smriti Mandhana led the run charts with 377 runs, while Gujarat Giants’ Sophie Devine finished as the leading wicket-taker with 17 wickets and was named Player of the Tournament.

The next major step will be the WPL 2027 auction in Kochi on October 28, where franchises will use their remaining purse to strengthen their squads. The fifth season is scheduled to run from January 14 to February 7, 2027.
