India Thrash Zimbabwe by 90 Runs to Seal T20I Series, Match World Record

India registered a commanding 90-run victory over Zimbabwe in the second match of the series at the Harare Sports Club.

The comprehensive win not only gave the visitors an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match contest but also marked Shreyas Iyer’s first series victory as the Indian captain.

Powered by sensational half-centuries from Ishan Kishan (81) and Tilak Varma (60*), the Men in Blue posted a massive 219/5 before systematically dismantling the hosts for just 129 in 17.5 overs. Beyond securing the series, the mammoth first-innings score etched India’s name into the record books, equalling their own historic world record for the most 200-plus team totals in a single calendar year in T20 Internationals.

After Zimbabwe skipper Sikandar Raza won the toss and chose to bowl first, Indian openers set out to make the host nation regret the decision.

Ishan Kishan delivered a masterclass in aggressive batting, earning the Player of the Match award for his sensational 81 off 44 balls, laced with nine boundaries and two towering sixes. Left-handed star Tilak Varma complemented him brilliantly with a blistering 60 off just 29 deliveries, striking five fours and three sixes.
Captain Shreyas Iyer kept the momentum steady with a composed 25 off 20 balls.

Chasing a daunting target of 220, Zimbabwe stumbled early under relentless pressure from the Indian bowling unit.

Opener Brian Bennett offered brief resistance with a 19-ball 32, while Tadiwanashe Marumani struck 24 off 19 balls. However, Vidarbha pacer Yash Thakur enjoyed a memorable T20I debut, breaking the host’s top order with figures of 2/30 in his four overs. Fast bowler Prince Yadav chipped in with 2/10 before leaving the field with a minor injury.
Spinner Abhishek Sharma then tore through the middle and lower order, taking a career-best 3/17 in 2.5 overs. Supported by economical spells from Ravi Bishnoi (1/20), Shivam Dube (1/13), and Tilak Varma (1/9), India comfortably bowled out Zimbabwe for 129 in 17.5 overs.
