Jasprit Bumrah – Knee swelling

India’s premier fast bowler is recovering from a knee issue after reportedly suffering an impact injury during the England tour. Reports suggest fluid was drained from his knee and he received a lubricant injection on July 20.

Bumrah was initially expected to feature in at least one Test against Sri Lanka but was ultimately ruled out. There is currently no confirmed return date.

Hardik Pandya – Quadriceps injury/strain

Hardik continues to be managed carefully after dealing with multiple injury issues since IPL 2026.

The all-rounder had appeared to be progressing towards a full recovery before pain resurfaced, forcing him back into rehabilitation. His availability for India’s upcoming Afghanistan ODIs is now reportedly in serious doubt.

Nitish Kumar Reddy – Quadriceps injury

Nitish has already missed India’s recent tours because of injury and remains in rehabilitation.

He is understood to have progressed into the return-to-skills phase, although he is still some way from being ready for competitive cricket.

Sai Sudharsan – Toe stress fracture

Sai Sudharsan, India’s first-choice No. 3 in Tests, has been ruled out of the Sri Lanka series after suffering a toe injury.

He sustained the injury while batting in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and continues to experience some pain despite otherwise making progress in his recovery.

Harshit Rana – Hamstring injury

Harshit Rana’s case has attracted particular attention. The fast bowler underwent surgery for a knee problem before suffering a hamstring injury during his return.

He arrived at the Centre of Excellence on July 20 and is reportedly progressing well, while also following a strict weight-management programme.

Washington Sundar – Quadriceps injury

Washington Sundar is also undergoing rehabilitation after picking up an injury during the England ODI series.

The all-rounder has no confirmed return date yet and remains at the CoE as he works through his recovery.

Varun Chakaravarthy – Hamstring tear

Varun Chakaravarthy suffered a hamstring injury during India’s England tour after having already played through a hairline fracture during IPL 2026.

The spinner checked into the CoE in July and is currently undergoing conditioning work.

Akash Deep – Lower-back stress fracture

Akash Deep has been dealing with a lower-back stress fracture for several months.

The injury ruled him out of IPL 2026, and despite spending an extended period at the CoE, the fast bowler has yet to make a full return.

Shubman Gill – Right ring-finger injury

India captain Shubman Gill suffered an impact injury to his right ring finger during training in Colombo ahead of the warm-up match against Sri Lanka XI.

The injury forced him to miss the first day’s play as a precaution. He is being monitored by the BCCI medical team.

Riyan Parag – Right shoulder surgery

Riyan Parag is recovering after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder.

The Rajasthan Royals captain has made progress but has not yet begun his cricket-specific skills work.
