Akshay Kumar And Rekha Throwback: Akshay Kumar and Rekha are counted among the biggest and most successful Bollywood stars of their respective generations. However, the duo surprised everyone back in 1996 when they starred together in the 1996 film Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi. The film turned out to be a blockbuster and their onscreen chemistry continues to be remembered even today.

Over the years, several behind-the-scenes stories from Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi have resurfaced, giving fans a fresh look at how some of its most talked-about moments were created. One such old revelation by director Umesh Mehra has once again gone resurfaced on Reddit, bringing the iconic film back into the spotlight.
TRIVIA ABOUT AKSHAY KUMAR AND REKHA’S HOT SCENES IN KHILADIYON KA KHILADI
For those unaware, Akshay and Rekha had a few sensuous scenes in the film despite belonging to differents generations of actors and a noticeable age difference. Earlier this year, in an interview with Reddif, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi opened up about casting Rekha opposite the Welcome star and the sizzling scenes between them.
On being asked if shooting sensous scenes between the duo was challenging for him, the filmmaker revealed that both Akshay and Rekha were keen to shoot those scenes. Yes, you read that right! Revealing the same, he said, “Not as far as the actors were concerned. They were very keen to do it. I will give credit to both Rekha and Akshay who came up with all these little touches. They were very creative.”
Recently, a Reddit user shared excerpts from the same interview on the platform after which the news grabbed eyeballs again.
REKHA WAS NOT THE FIRST CHOICE FOR KHILADIYON KA KHILADI
In the same interview, the director revealed that Rekha was not the first choice for the antagonist’s role in the hit film. Interestingly, Mita Vashisht was initially signed for the part. Talking about the same, Mehra stated, “While I was not in the country, Mita Vashisht, who was very talented and just out of FTII, was suggested for the role. Bhanu Athaiya had done all the costumes for Mita. When I came back and I saw her in costume, I said, ‘We are going to be drowned. No way can she carry Madame Maya!’ I told my producers, ‘Look, there’s only one person in this world who can do this role — Rekha.'”
Well, that’s how Rekha came onboard and owned the screen completely. Don’t you agree? Tell us what you think in the comments.
